CAMPS at AGAWAM - RACQUETS

For more than 40 years, Agawam has offered summer Camps for its youngest members and their friends rising into first through tenth grades.  Regardless of age, each Agawam camp week is filled with summer fun, sun, and exertion on our 130-acre property. With a thoughtful approach to structuring campers’ days, activities, professional instruction, courses, and courts are tailored to each child’s age and ability.  All campers benefit from cooling off in our heated pool and satisfying their appetite with a healthy meal at our Lunch Box cafe.

Three-Day and Week-long summer camps at Agawam include Camp Agawam for children Grades 1st to 6th and, for children grades 5th to 10th, Racquets Academy, Racquets & Golf Sports Academy and Junior Golf Development Camp. Camps are offered for both members and non-members.

RACQUETS ACADEMY

In partnership with Lincoln School, we are pleased to offer Racquets Academy which emphasizes tennis, squash, and pickleball. No racquet will be left unturned! This camp is geared towards boys and girls rising into 5th to 10th grade but we do accept other age ranges by request (if you have a child who is able to play with 5th to 10th graders, contact us to consider if they are a match for the camp).

For the Summer of 2024, Camp Agawam will be offered the weeks starting June 17, June 24, July 8,  July 15, July 22, July 29, August 5, August 12 and August 19. Camp Agawam runs from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. daily.  For parents needing a later pickup, we have an extended day option ending at 5:30 p.m.

Agawam is pleased to announce the return of Racquets Academy this summer taking place from the weeks of June 19th to August 21st. This high-energy camp is designed to improve the skill level of each camper in a fun and exciting environment. The camp will be taught by experienced USPTA-certified instructors and counselors who will provide incredible instruction to each camper throughout the week.

The main area of focus for improvement during each week of camp will be on stroke production. This means that the coaches will help each camper improve their forehands, backhands, volleys, overheads, and serves as well as other specialty shots. Specific drills will be run by the coaches to help everyone gain control and consistency on each stroke. The coaches will also run exciting games and matchplay to help each camper get more comfortable playing points and keeping score in a match environment.

With the optional Golf Sports Academy option (selected at registration check-out), campers will split from the Racquets group on the mornings of Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday to head over to the golf practice area and 18-hole Donald Ross golf course. We teach the game's traditions, etiquette, rules, and technique. Campers will train on our putting green, two driving range areas, pitch, and putt area and have some time on our course.

Unique to Agawam is the ability to hone tennis skills on three different surfaces: hard courts (indoors), clay courts (Har-Tru), and our 10 grass courts! It is extremely rare to have a facility that can offer all three of these surfaces which will provide valuable experience to each camper to acclimate to each surface. At noon, campers will enjoy lunch prepared by Agawam’s chefs and enjoy a relaxing and refreshing pool break.
